The Cornwall Hi-Fi & Home Cinema Show is now one of the South West’s leading audio and home entertainment events, bringing together some of the biggest names in hi-fi, home cinema, TVs, turntables, streaming audio and premium sound systems. Hosted annually at the Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge, the show welcomes music and film enthusiasts from across Cornwall, Devon and beyond to experience the latest technology in a relaxed, hands-on environment.
The Beginning
Back in 2018, on one sunny Tuesday, hi-fi enthusiast Dan, Senior Sales Advisor at HBH Woolacotts St Austell, had an idea. He wanted to create a dedicated hi-fi event that would bring together far more brands than could ever fit into a traditional retail showroom. During one of his regular branch visits, HBH Woolacotts Managing Director Martin heard Dan’s idea and suggested taking it one step further by finding a larger local venue.
Thinking big from the outset, Dan began researching venues across Cornwall before narrowing the options down to a shortlist. After visiting several locations, he and Geoff, Manager of HBH Woolacotts Wadebridge, met with Emma at The Pavilion Centre, Royal Cornwall Showground. The venue was the perfect fit and the first ever Cornwall Hi-Fi Show was officially booked.
Over the following months, Geoff and Dan invited more than 20 leading hi-fi, home cinema, television and audio brands to exhibit, creating a unique opportunity for visitors to compare premium speakers, amplifiers, turntables, headphones, streaming systems, TVs and home cinema equipment all under one roof. Of course, no great day of listening would be complete without excellent coffee, so a local little coffee van joined the event, too!
As the opening weekend approached, months of planning came together. Demonstration systems were built, displays assembled, stock delivered and brand representatives arrived to prepare their listening rooms. On the day before the event, exhibitors transformed the Pavilion Centre into a showcase of sound and vision, ready to welcome visitors.
At 10am on Friday 18th October 2018, the doors officially opened for the very first Cornwall Hi-Fi & Home Cinema Show. Since then, the event has become an annual highlight for hi-fi enthusiasts across Cornwall and Devon, returning every year apart from 2020.
Every year, we listen carefully to feedback from our visitors, exhibitors and staff to make the show even better. That commitment to continuous improvement has helped the event grow from a dedicated hi-fi exhibition into one of the South West’s most exciting showcases for hi-fi, home cinema and TV technology.
The TV Tent
One of the biggest developments in recent years has been the introduction of our dedicated TV Tent. By expanding beyond the Pavilion Centre, we’ve been able to significantly increase the exhibition space, giving leading TV and home cinema brands room to showcase the latest OLED TVs, Mini LED TVs, soundbars, surround sound systems and immersive home entertainment solutions, while continuing to enhance the dedicated hi-fi listening rooms and two-channel audio demonstrations inside the Pavilion.
Visitors to the show can explore everything from premium headphones and portable audio to flagship hi-fi separates, wireless streaming systems and cutting-edge home cinema equipment.
As the show continues to grow, our goal remains the same as it was back in 2018: to create an enjoyable, welcoming event where music and film lovers from Cornwall, Devon and across the South West can experience exceptional hi-fi, home cinema and TV technology, meet industry experts and discover products they’ll love for years to come.
